I’m in love with you

あらゆる表現の究極の言葉はこれ。

でも、この言葉を言うために

捧げなければいけない行動、努力、

そして言動――全てをこの言葉に込めるなら、

自分のやってることをいつまでも肯定できない

そういう人物はいらない。

この言葉は示す意味――

あなたは本当に人を愛することができますか。

できないなら、一人で生きていきなさい。

恋愛は一人ではできないから、

当然、誰かとするわけだけど、

一人が好きなら、一人で生きていけ。

誰かと群れて生きることが楽しいなら、それで構わない。

ただし、最初から恋愛関係に他人を利用するような

自分の満足を充足させる恋愛なら、

二度と私のような人間と関わるな――

それが、この詩の警告だ。

Yet, to speak them,

to devote the necessary deeds, the effort,

and the entirety of one’s conduct into these words—

if you cannot affirm yourself in all that you do,

then such a person is not needed.

The meaning behind these words—

Can you truly love another soul?

If not, then walk your path alone.

Love cannot exist in solitude alone,

of course, it is always shared with someone;

but if solitude is your choice, then embrace it fully.

If life among others brings you joy, that too is acceptable.

Yet, should you enter a romance merely to use another,

to satisfy your own desires,

never again entangle yourself with someone like me—

that is the warning this poem bears.
