第58話の現代詩の英語バージョンについて

We have all lost our voices once.
In the midst of mockery and doubt,
we kept silent.
We have all lost our voices once.
In falsehood and in wandering,
we lost ourselves.
She shut her heart.
Yet her eyes and ears could not be deceived.
The shadow of bullying was never hers alone;
it spread as whispers,
as wind,
filling the streets.
And they, in their arrogance, believed
that their words could trample another’s dignity.
He wore a mask.
Yet he could not escape reality,
nor the bonds of blood,
nor the chains of “for your own good,”
endless, formless.
What they sought to take
was freedom,
was life itself,
was hope.
And they, in their madness, believed
that their words could command another’s future.
She felt a trace of bitterness she could not swallow.
She could not look her tears in the eye.
She cast away every cry, every question,
blotting out her fear with one heavy stroke.
She ran, as if her life depended on it,
interrogating her own weakness.
And then—
she reclaimed her voice.
That moment, that instant, this time,
he stood beside her.
He discovered another self through her,
radiant in the light.
She spoke in halting sounds,
yet it was not her heart, reaching for the sun, that stopped.
He let out a trembling voice,
yet it was not his heart, struggling to live, that trembled.

And we shall all, again, together,
take back our own voices.

実は私も大学は英文科で、大学院では翻訳を勉強していたんです。
でも、自分の英語が特別に上手いとは思っていなくて、あくまで日常会話レベルなんですね。身近に同時通訳のプロがいるので、余計に自分の英語が下手に感じちゃいます～ - I'm not an english native speaker.
I'm impressed.
It's not an easy thing to write poem in my opinion.
And I gave up to remember those rules.
I mean the rules for french poem.
I just remember the basic one.
Keep UP the good work! - Hello! Thank you so much for saying that. I actually feel that modern poetry is okay—it’s mostly about expressing your feelings directly. Classical poetry with rhymes is much harder, so I think Chinese poetry is especially difficult to write. Of course, I haven’t really written much in English poetry myself—it’s just for fun. But thank you for encouraging me! 🌸
